The first two or three Ancient Rites albums are great, after that they got all melodic and power metal-ish.

Lot of respect for Gunther Theys though, considering all the adversity and hardships he went through with/for AR.

If I remember well, they were formed in 1988 indeed.
Ancient Rites changed a lot, I'm not into what they are doing now but they released some excellent albums in the past.
I still hail and respect them for their integrity.
A new Black metal band from Belgium I recommand would be Taranis!
What out for their up comming album " Honour".

I only like Ancient Rite's first few albums as well.

Wow,your right....I clicked on thier link and somehow it sounds they've managed to grasp an original sound,yet staying in the bounderies of old Gorgoroth's musical realm without sounding a bit like Gorgoroth,Carpathian forest/kind of old vocals but again with an original identity,and no "Darkthrone Transylvanian Hunger Clone sounds"....some excellent Black Metal.That is getting scarce to find these days.Never heard of them before,now I'll definately check em' out for sure.

there are enough belgian bm bands that are good iconoclasms etc. but i prefer enthroned, how i can explane,but they are good,VERY GOOD dark greetz

the future of iconoclasm isn't sure anymore, because of jeroenymos backache they had to cancel the brazilian tour... I hope they won't quit + I hope this incident won't get in the way of the recording of the first full lenght album of Aguyguerran's 'Perverting The Nazarene Cult'.

Do you know something more about this Nornagest?

The recording of "Perverting the Nazarene cult" is in process so, no problem from that point of view.

Iconoclasm will play in Barroselas fest ( Portugal) with Henne of Demonizer and Paragon Impure as a session drummer.

There are some good bands definitly, but the big problem iMO over here these days is the audiance (except in Biebob or HTL) just lame and I start to understand why so many bands are not playing here anymore.
best example : Corpus Christii/ Merrimack gig last week.

Unfortunately, he didn't because Dungeon became a dad during that period, which is far more important than doing some backing vocals for loosers like us hehe!

I did a side-project with those guys named Plague.
Nartvind is traditionnal BM, very primitive.
