according to the infinite (flawed) wisdom of Metal Archives, Armoured Bestial Hell and Prophecies Of Pagan Fire are the best Enthroned albums....

I refuse to comment till i've heard them all though... or at least more than the only two i've gotten so far.

well i picked up the only other Enthroned album i've been able to get hold of offline today - excluding the Blackened collection which apparently the band regard as bootlegs so naturally felt obliged to not buy that boxset - namely 'Prophecies Of Pagan Fire'.
So I'm slowly but surely building up some sort of base upon which to base my judgements...

and just to be super anal, it's XES (as it's made up of the three seperate Hebrew letters - making it an acronym sort of - that represent the number six hundred and sixty six)... :eck:

I lost interest in Enthroned after 'Regie Sathanas'. Not only didn't I like the music (it sounds stupid, but I still think the sound on 'Armoured Bestial Hell' and the following albums is just not right. The drums don't fit with the rest...), but also those stupid 'sexlyrics'. Pathetic, really.

But I liked the first two albums very much, and also the Cernunnos tribute.

So, Prophecies of Pagan Fire is my favorite, with 'Skullthrone' inches behind.

Postmortem Penetrations ;)

But you're mostly right.

The lyrics for 'Postmortem penetrations' were written by Namroth Blackthorn and it's concept is based upon the Red Mass, so anybody a bit into satanism knows what a red mass is!

still strikes me as odd that someone would go out of their way to join a messageboard of a band who's most recent releases he dislikes so fervently, simply because the vocalist leaving somehow fills you with the premonition of the band automatically reverting back to the sound they had a decade ago.

Not trying to start a confrontation or anything, it just seems odd. Most people wouldn't bother, and would wait till the new material surfaced before joining a messageboard just to disparage the bands most recent output (and indicator of their most likely current sound/direction).

All the ENTHRONED albums are great, but I prefer the "Towards The Skullthrone Of Satan", because it was the first I listened, so I knew Enthroned with this album. Also, the best Enthroned songs to me are in this fucking excellent album.

As far as atmosphere and sheer darkness go, I like "Prophecies" and "Skullthrone" best, also probably because it was my first exposure to Enthroned as a band.

However, I've very much come to like the "new era" Enthroned, mostly because they chose to record outside of Belgium with a respected producer/engineer and studio. Second, because the latter album show a band in much better control of their instruments - undoubtly, the killer old school Teutonic thrash vibe the later albums have & the band's tendency to use spine chilling leads (and soundscapes) have something to do with it as well.

I was also a bit sceptic when Sabathan/Frank left, but many prominent black metal bands have had lead vocalists come and go, just take a look at Gorgoroth, Marduk, Mayhem, etc.

Not to just say this because its thier curent record,or just because we are here but "Xes Haereticum" in my opinion is Enthroned's best album.Its got every element of Old Enthroned,yet nothing "the same" or a copy....truly enjoyable to listen to. Every track is kick the fuck ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 5 personal favorites:

Xes Haereticum
Towards The Skullthrone Of Satan
Prophocies Of Pagan Fire
Reggie Sathanas
The Appocolipse Manifesto

These 5 albums are Enthroned's superior albums.

A hellish big "FUCK OFF" to this kid "Fluisterwoud"......it is ok to critisize,but you are "childish" and are everything this website stands against. I do not particualy care for "Armoured Bestial Hell" to my personal likings,...but do you see me appear on Enthroned's website and bash the album like a little child? No. These men are serious musicians,who do not take your kind of critisism serious to say the least. Thier music and lyrics are not "stupid" and "dumb",nor do they "suck" ...the only thing that "sucks" is logging onto this site and seeing you bash my favorite black metal band. Go to bed,you've got school tomarrow.

Towards the Skullthrone of Satan, because it just radiates total evil with every song. Plus the riffs are catchy too and I think every song is perfect. Regie Sathanas is a close 2nd. By Dark Glorious Thoughts is mindblowing.

By the way, my favourite album is "Xes..." because it's fucking brutal but with a touch of cold melody, and i really like this mix.
I think solos are also great and drums are fucking destructive.
Obviously i'm waiting for the upcoming album...maybe it will be my new favourite one ehhehe

XES is the best album hands down. The emotional instensity in this album is explosive and rarely found nowadays in black metal... hope "Tera..." keeps up the kick ass-ness in XES.
