OP, why are you selling exactly? I'd always heard great things about ENGL's. I'd like an SE2 myself.

The whole fucking sound! This is by far the best ENGL in the market, I don't think they're in production anymore. Basically from what I heard, the Powerball was suppose to be a replacement of the Savage, just like the Peavy 6505 as the new 5150. Powerball is great along with the Fireballs IMO but when I tried the Savage, it was a new level of brutality- kinda similar to the Diezel VH4S which is pretty much the best amp ever by industry standards along with Mesa Mark V.

For playing DM you can't go wrong with ENGL I just bought me a Fireball 100W and I get a boner every time I play it, so clear yet so mean and beefy agh!!

Does great for rhythms. Not so much for leads. You can dial in a good lead tone, but then your rhythm tone will suffer. I need an amp that has a bit more versatility. I think the Savage has the best rhythm tone of all the amps I tried from Engl.

The Powerball II sounds alright. Still kind of compressed sounding. Like the dynamics are being choked off. The built in noise gate hinders the tone even more. It also sounds better through a cab with V30s. Where as a cab with 75's sound kinda buzzy. The Savage sounds good through any cab.

I'd like to talk more about amps, but I have to go to work. Give you guys a bit more info and actual truths of how they sound.

Thanks for the info. I'd been trying to decide what my next amp would be. I'm currently using a 6505+ and it's pretty decent, but I know there are better things out there. Looking forward to hearing some opinions from you and some other people later today.

I am over the moon with my new fireball, just gonna get an ibanez tube screamer to get more sustain on tapping and leads overall. What's your budget Works? I was lucky to find this ENGL for £400

lol, currently non-existent but if all goes well I should be able to start amassing gear again by the end of this year after basic. I'd tried out a few amps this year I liked alot, including the Bogner Ecstasy Anniversary edition. As much as I liked it though I probably won't get it.

I just feel like my 6505+ is a little more muddy than I want it to be. It's not super noticeable but still. More channels and tonal options would be great. Nice find with the Fireball too, you're a lucky guy lol.

that engl se is purdy. tonally, whats the difference between driving it with 6L6's or EL34's?

I'm not sure honestly, I just linked the first one that popped up lol. I'll probably do a bit more research into which sounds better before I buy it of course, but still. That thing is looking pretty nice. I just really want an amp that I can get a ton of different tones out of.

if you want different tones and power get the Axe FX II with the Matrix power amp- takes tone to a new level without the hassle of carrying a fucking heavy amp around, it's also half the price or less in comparison to that ENGL you wanna get. Fuck spending 4k dude lol

The 6l6s give a more modern 'metal' sound, the el34s are more rock orientated. I have a Savage SE, best amp I've ever owned by a long shot.
