There is apparently a campground about an hour north of Baltimore that can be rented. There is a fetish festival going on there this August.

I think it would be cool camping out.

Fort Armistead park would be nice. They hold a weekend rave there every year called starscape.

pro's-Its a large park on the water, plenty of room for camping and stages and all that crap. Even better is if you walk through the woods there is an old military fort that is unkept. You can walk into these old tunnels and prison cells that have been just left to rot. I swear you walk 10 feet into these rooms and can't see the back of your hand if you held it up to your face.

con's-absolutely nothing to walk to other than a gas station, a junk yard, and a landfill. It's right on the Baltimore City/Anne Arundel County line and the cops on Anne Arundel County will set up dui checkpoints. If you don't like camping the closest decent hotel would still be downtown. No other bars in area.

I like camping and I like Deathfest. I don't need to combine the two.

I don't even sleep in a tent when I go to obscene extreme fest where it is nice temperature wise unless it starts raining cats and dogs. I won't be using a tent in humid Baltimore.

I don't really want to camp but I think MDF could use a bigger space, if there was a good one available with hotels nearby.

There's a couple of locations they could possibly use, but still have their quirks. There is a couple of malls/shopping centers with some good amount of land. I am most familiar with Dundalk, Essex, White Marsh. There is a shopping center on the other side of I-695 on Eastern Ave. across from Eastpoint. It has a sufficient amount of land and the building there was a former Sams Club which would be great for capacity. The problems that it would have is the wonderful odor coming from across the street on those hot summer days, and lack of hotels nearby. If Eastpoint would have allowed it they could have used the back parking lot of the mall, but now there's a new McDonalds there.
There is a big field in the White Marsh area with a great amount of land across from the Loews/Best Buy shopping center. There's 3 hotels that could be used one within walking distance, the other 2 in the Golden Ring area. The quirks being that it's next to the Nottingham area and condos which may have problems with whiny community people.
The other option would be down Caroll Island Rd. on Caroll Island. The problem with that would be lack of hotels and restaurants being a distance away.
Another location in Baltimore is another former Sams Club. It's in the Cherry Hill section of south Baltimore on Hanover St. It would seem to be a bigger area. Not sure if the Wal-Mart that's still there would mind or not. Maybe a small problem with parking for those that drive. Not enough food stores nearby. Walking distance from downtown.

Camping would suck. They don't need to make it bigger. It doesn't sell out besides Thursday as is. Tons of great hotels near by already. If this became an outdoor sorta thing in the crazy Baltimore heat I don't think I would go anymore. The hotels near by and the fairly comfortable indoor space keeps me coming back.Keep it at Sonar or in the same area or just move it to another city. That could always be an option.

I would camp easily, and would make some expenses cheaper to have camping included in ticket. But yeah climate in northern europe does make a bit of difference the nights are still hot as fuck in baltimore, its easy enough to prepare for that though so i'd be all for it.

Greetings, everyone. In case the rumor hasn't made it to your ears, we can let you know that Sonar (the home of MDF since 2006) is closing. Why? That's not important.
What is important is that we've known about this situation for months, and we were already searching for a new location only a few days after MDF X ended. Currently, we have THREE locations to choose from, all of which would be in Baltimore. Once some more logistical and financial planning takes place, we can make a decision on next year's location. With a little luck, we'll reveal that info before the end of July. Worst case scenario, we'll let you know sometime in August.

In the meantime, we will be announcing the first round of confirmed bands for MDF XI very soon, maybe even as early as next week.

Well they gave us a clue that it won't be at Ram's Head on their Facebook page. What other venues would be sufficient for this type of fest?

On one hand, I'm kind of relieved because the Sonar is located in possibly one of the most seediest and corroded parts of Baltimore where there's very little activity and attractions aside from MDF, obviously.. but on the other, it will probably be a bit of a pain in the ass now to map out hotels and such.. though if the new venue happens to be not too far from Sonar then it's not too big a of deal. I just hope the new venue isn't like another CBGB's or Acheron type of place.

Woulda been convenient to buy drugs at mdf directly from the venue, lol. This is a double fuck you for all the people that got their stuff taken away due to smoking outside.

If you think the Sonar is one of the seedier parts of Baltimore, you haven't seen much of Baltimore.

That's nice for the preakness fest, but would be really bad for those people talking about not being around "seedy" neighborhoods. Especially leaving at 2:00 a.m., or just going outside the fest in general.
I just recently seen Best Buy in Hunt Valley closed. It would be a large enough location. Has at least 2 hotels close by. I talked about a Sams Club and now Best Buy. I guess the problem would be overhead cost of opening up such buildings for 4 days. Hunt Valley may be a little stuck up for that type of fest being there, but screw it, they'll get over it. More convenient for me :).

So I guess the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium wouldn't be a sufficient area either? Hahah!

Maryland state fairgrounds would be good. Timonium isn't that bad of a area. Closest hotels would be in Cockeysville (Shawan Rd.) and Towson (Dulaney Valley Rd.)
