Bars in the area

/Are there any good bars in the area? I want to go out but apparently Baltimore is ghetto and dangerous or so I hear. Also what time do bars close there?

Bars close at 2 as far as I know, also why the last band ends at sonar around 2 and they kick everyone out in a hurry.

baltimore street is a couple blocks up mostly strip clubs and bars, can't vouch for quality.

The sidebar is a cool little punk bar fairly close

Midway on Baltimore Street, scuzzy motherfuckers at the bar, dildos and porn in the stuffed animal claw machine, closest booze carry out place from the Sonar. I always have a great time there.

I lived in that area for a bit, Sidebar is great and right around corner. If ya wanna get fancy take a cab (5$) or walk to the basement of Brewers Art. I used to go to Dionysus up Charles street quite a bit too, great bartenders/food/atmosphere/affordable.

If you go to Charles St. (3 blocks from sonar) and walk north there are shit-tons of great restaurants, bars, coffee joints, etc

There is even a free bus that goes up and down it.

Personal fav...best pizza in the fucking city and great bar too goes to:

make sure to check out the graffiti alley kitty corner from there too..always some amazing shit

I wonder what the strip clubs in that area are like?? lol.. Are they like full of real gutter butter bitches with stretch marks, tracks in the arms, old bullet wounds, with their latchkey kids sitting in the corner doing their homework or something? I wouldn't be surprised..

Me (a chick) and a scrawny ass white girl managed the area around Sonar just fine when it was totally dead. Empty. If you are a dude, you are totes silly for asking this. The place will be SWARMING with fucked up metalheads from out of the country and cops and security. Understand that. If the ghetto happens to devour you, consider yourself very unlucky.

i agree with everyone about sidebar, i will be going there again this year

as far as strip clubs go, i went to a few last year on baltimore street. the ones closest to the fest like the hustler club weren't bad, but the further down you went, the rougher looking the girls got.

Not a bar, but a place worth visiting - National Pinball Museum on Water Street. Pinball is the closest thing to drinking if you are not drinking, and there you can play a lot. A walk from Sonar.

A great bar in Fells Point - Wharf Rat. My favourite. Brewers Art basement is excellent, too.

Club Charles is a cool place, as is the Wind Up Space. They're on Charles & North Ave, (Wind Up is basically across the street from the Joe Squared as pictured up above.)

The best bar & pizza, for my money, is Johnny Rad's. It's in the Fells Pt./Canton area so you'd have to cab it or the free bus may go out that way. Good beers, great pizza, and when you walk in they're playing the Jesus Lizard or Black Flag. Skater place.

For the strip clubs there's a Scores across the street from Sonar. Baltimore St, the red light district, is sketchy for anyone, despite being across the street from the police station.

I'm thinking to hit up that Pinball Museum on Friday and then go over to Fells Point and bar hop before going to the Sonar.

Maxs Taphouse is awesome, 90+ beers on tap.
