So I'm just listening to DSO for the first time. Infernal Battles and working my way forward. Good plan? I think Marlon told me that was a good idea a while back.

Should I bother with the EP's too?

IMO skip the first two full lengths...get SMRC first. If you don't like that one don't give up on them..try Kenose and go from there.

Get all the full lengths (after the first two atleast) and get Kenose, Chaining the Katechon, and Diabolus Absconditus.

IMO one of the few bands that have a solid discography beginning to end...at least after the first two full lengths :D

Everyone will tell you to start with a later album, but I agree with marlon.

The first two albums are incredible orthodox bm and while understandably overshadowed by their later releases are still fantastic releases.

I'd for sure go in chronological order (including eps) since there is such a blatant and clear progression in the exploration of certain musical ideas and for lack of a better word, motifs which reoccur starting with SMRC. DsO is a band which may not click right away, and it seems it's a different album that does that clicking for everyone, but they are worth a huge amount of your musical time. Just incredibly rewarding music.

Yeah I followed yours and Marlon's advice thus far. Finishing up SMR,C right now actually. I love the first 2 albums, the production is a bit thinner then I usually go for but the riffs are awesome. It is a shame the original singer left the band, I hate to say it but I prefer his voice.

I like their little turn to the weird thus far though. It sounds much more sinister and dark and I think because of that Mikko's voice fits it pretty well. I think I'm stopping at 3 albums today though to give myself a little bit of time to really get into this. Its a lot to absorb.

In Solitude and Ghost are both touring the US currently and on seperate tours so i wouldnt think In Solitude could be possible members. Ghosts vocalist is pretty exposed though as the vocalist for Repugnant. And yes DSO obviously is composed of Ghost, the ghost of the guy that died from GWAR and a couple of Lordi's members. You're a black metal noob if you ever thought they didnt have any concrete info on the members or would ever play live.
