The band hasn't been as fun for me since they dropped the non-recursive style of the first two-three albums, not to mention the loss of a third vocal and the change in Dallas's vocal tone, but I'm kind of excited about this one.

Third vocal is still there.

When asked if fans can expect any guest appearances on the new NILE CD, Karl said, "Jon Vesano is all over this record. (Our former singer and bass guitarist who we're still good friends with.) Jon did some guest vocals on "Those Whom The Gods Detest" and it made us realize all over again all the things we really liked about Jon's vocals. We wanted to incorporate some of his insanity. [laughs] He's wicked, man. He knows how to channel that inner possession. He finds a way to summon it. It's great stuff."

And I'm glad to see so much Nile love.

Bought AOTW when it came out and downloaded the next album. No interest in either. All the Nile I will ever need is in the first three albums.

I don't know if all the people who hate Nile just aren't posting but I remember a few years ago they were getting way more hate on this board. Stuff like "only people who are new to DM would be impressed by Nile".

Seriously, anytime I used to start a thread about them it'd be nothing but flaming them and calling them boring. And Karl fat jokes.

Either way, I thoroughly enjoy them. Old stuff and new. Live they're hit or miss though, I think.

Nile are a solid deathmetal band not one bad album...I've seen them on the Bloodthirst Cannibal tour back in the day....They destroyed then saw them 2 yrs ago they destroyed then... Amazing live band met karl/whole band all were cool as hell...Kollias was so cool me and the drummer for my band talked his ear off he was so cool...

One thing before they took the stage a fan wanted to take a picture of the drumset and the Nile roadie about whooped his ass...

I remember being a sophomore in highschool and I had just started getting into deathmetal and Nile (at the time) was my favorite band. I was really getting into them and I didn't know that about that tour until the week AFTER they played the show in Tampa (or wherever it was in Florida). It would have been my first real metal show too. :P Funny enough my first real metal show was Nile/Suicide Silence(ugh)/Unexpect/The Faceless.

I'll always remember that show cause Navene (who was playing for The Faceless) killed it.

Was so bummed cause Nile & Behemoth were the first deathmetal bands I got into.

Unfortunately Nile do nothing for me anymore...I haven't cared about or enjoyed anything they've done after AOTW.

And all the negative shit I hear about Karl doesn't make me want to bother with them anymore either.

Fuck, I am totally on board with TWTGD. I loved it when it came out and I've rediscovered it over the last few days. Awesome album. Now all I need to do is get back into Ithyphallic and I'll be in full fanboy mode.

because when i see a nile thread, i don't click on it...

i used to like nile when i was first getting into dm and then i saw them live twice and haven't given a fuck since. didn't help that the last time i saw them that immolation and krisiun were the opening bands either....

too lazy to look through this uber huge thread- is there a sample song yet?

Are you saying you don't like them because of how they are live? Because IMO any kind of technical, wall of noise music just isn't that well suited for the live setting in the first place.
