Origin with Jason Keyser= Intense!
Cought Origin's show on Friday and fucking hell they destroyed the place, Jason is doing a great job as a frontman and quite honestly he is the best one I've seen so far with them. For anyone missing Skinless and Mucopus' shows go see Origin because the intensity is just as high! Here's a clip from one of the shows of the tour:

Almost every time I have seen Origin, they are super intense. It's inherent to the music. Same thing with gorgasm.

Gutted I missed their Edinburgh date because it was two days before my exam.
Hopefully I get to catch them some time soon! |

New dude killed it when i saw them live. I still wish lee was the frontman but Jason is a worthy intense replacement.

Keyser exudes stage presence. Kinda what Origin need as they were boring as fuck when I saw them with the previous dude.

I've seen 'em twice with Lee, and I liked his presence. He just looked massive, intimidating and mean as fuck, which fits with the Origin sound.
They are an amazingly tight live band, i'd love to see 'em again regardless of vocalist. |

James Lee is the true voice of Origin. No doubt about that. But Keyser is an incredible vocalist and i'm super excited for this. I was a bit concerned he might not feel confortable in such a "fast" enviroment as he is well known for more groove oriented bands. But dat Aftermath performance!!!! I bet he sounds even meaner on material from the new album, as it has more meat and violence to it imo.

Keyser is way better than Lee when it comes to live performance. Curious to what he can do in the studio.

I wasn't referring to Lee in my previous comment by the way.

Yeah i got that. Lee's vocals semeed even better in live videos. As for Keyser, he obviously can do a lot in studio, judging by his performances with Mucopus, especially. I hope he is gonna stay, do albums and bring more of that sick diversity into Origin.

I was at the London show, but for me it was the worst I've seen Origin.
Still a great set, but Paul's guitar gain was over-the-top, it just turned into fuzz (especially at that speed). All the delicate picking was lost and it was just like vacuum cleaner packing it in with the occasional sweep. EDIT: Origin set was also like 75% stuff on Antithesis, which was meh too. Oh and I did move around the venue and still couldn't find a better spot with better sound mix. So, their set turned out to be a 60-70minute drum solo for me. After all, you don't get a drummer like Longstreth playing in your local venue very often! Plus, he's not in Gorguts anymore, which is a shame, though I gather he's playing on their album (both Origin and Gorguts are playing NDF next week and he's not doing the Gorguts set). Oh - and Keyser is a man-whore! I've got video footage to prove it! ![]() Psycroptic (main support) with Joe Payne on bass and Zdenek (Godless Truth/Lacerated Enemy Recs) on vox was weird but cool. Apparently the regular guys couldn't make it as they got called up on short notice to join up (Hate Eternal, who were supposed to co-headline the tour with Origin pulled out after they got a better US tour offer - apparently). Keyser seems like a perfect fit for Origin. He was great on the last Skinless album, and is fun live.
"The Aftermath" is one of my favorite Origin songs. Cool. |

So is Longstreth officially out of Gorguts? Did he say he was? I thought it was just temporary.

I talked to Longstreth briefly and he didn't mention it, even though we talked about Gorguts. Weird.

I know he was having problems with the timings of the new material, so maybe he just bowed out, which is a shame because his patterns are ace on the demos.

![]() Also Kudos at Zdenek in Psycroptic I thought his voice sounded better than Jason's although his stage prescence was not as good as his. Joe Payne was a machine as always though! Last edited by Mr-Shredz; 02-28-2012 at 05:42 AM.. |

John's a sick drummer, but personally, I'd rather see someone like Patrice Hamelin or Étienne Galo play drums in Gorguts.
