the album is so much better than the EP.... the EP sounded way to metalcore to me, it had quite a few shitty breakdowns that ruined the whole thing to me...

the album is definitely more along the lines of technical melodic death metal... the only song that really blows is "mental crucifixion".. you should re listen to the album and skip that song

I mentioned the Cynic Ep on the first page, however, as a proper death metal release I thought that Septic Flesh - The Great Mass was a good contender for aoty.

Pretty weird how it's the other way around for me. I thought the EP was awesome and original and when I listened to the album, I thought it sounded like metalcore.

okay, i relistened to the EP...

dens of eniquity & disoriented blur are pretty good songs

however, carcosa & a witness to are kinda lame IMO...

still doesnt change my mind because 50% of the EP is good while 80% of the album is good... i just enjoy listening through the album more than the EP
