For the most part, I'm new to beer. And so far, I haven't tried many. Though, here's what I've had (and liked):
Spaten Optimator
Wells and Young's Banana Bread (though, not fully worth $6-7 IMO)
Hopslam

Some I think that are just ok:
Pilsner Urquell
Newcastle Brown Ale (on tap: pretty good; bottled: eh)

From reading these beer threads, these are the ones I should check out next (if you have any suggestions, tell me):
Duvel
Hobgoblin
Gulden Draake
Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout
Zywiec porter
Brewdog Tokyo
Delirium Nocturnum
Black Albert

EDIT: Pliny the Elder

from how i see it and from what my friends tell me, its hard to get west coast beers on the east coast and vice versa...so any recommendations i have wouldnt apply unless you find a trading buddy.

Split a bomber of this with my lady, Innis & Gunn Oak aged Beer.

And a 6 pack of this:

I&G was really good, smelled like Newcastle but the flavors were way more intense. Fairly strong in the ABV dept (7.4) but you couldn't really taste it. Asahi Black was good, first time having that in AGES, probably 8-9 years. Smooth, way better than the normal Asahi.

So, I was looking on the net for more places that sell a wider selection around me. I found one place I used to always pass by, but never went into. When I got there tonight, my mouth dropped. Their selection is huge! I believe most of the beers mentioned in this thread was there. Though, since I am low on money, I was only able to buy these four. But, as soon as I get things stable, I will be definitely returning back.

Sublimely is pretty much cream of the crop for Black IPAs. The only better one I've had was Fort Collins' The Incredible Hop.

i would also strongly recommend founders-backwoods bastard

if you can't find that (i think it's seasonal) try the founders-dirty bastard

both are excellent scotch ales

Super complex and bitter. It tastes a bit too convoluted for my taste. I love big and complex beers, but the flavor profile on Arrogant Bastard is just a mess.

I think it has the perfect blend of hops and has a nice finish, not too long, not too dry and short either. I'm loving this Sublimely Self-Righteous also, similar, but darker and less hoppy.
