Precisely. The only time I've actually gone out to get drunk was at this year's MDF. Even then, I only drank about 3-4 in a medium amount of time and it was on pretty cheap beer.

collaboration between two local breweries. this taste fantastic, love the sweetness of the Belgian style + the bitter finish left as an IPA. one of my current favorites, only found it in a pint though. sorry for the huge pic

De Dolle Stille Nacht

Man, this has quite the bite, which is expected as it has a 12% ABV. It's 'edgier' than gulden draak, but does have some similarities. I'm not sure if I'm using this in the correct light, but this is quite complex. I can't see myself buying loads of it considering it was around $6-7 for one 11.6 oz. bottle. Though, if I have hankering for something like this, I would definitely buy it again.

Bottles are worth gold. The bigger ones the better. A normal batch that I've been brewing is 23L of beer, that's around 30 750ml bottles. If you have smaller bottles, it takes a lot more time to bottle and cap them... because there's more of them needed.

Putting in more sugar increases the alcohol content. About a kilo of sugar gives you 5% alcohol beer, or there abouts. You can get different kinds of brewing sugars, straight up dextrose is pretty boring, but reliable. Mixing in some golden syrup is always pretty nice.

Sanitise everything!
Nothing worse than brewing a batch, waiting the 3 weeks to drink it and it's been contaminated by some nasty ecoli strand. Makes it smell like shit.

Never heard anyone hating Shiner. I think it's great if you want something good but without spending alot. Have you tried any other varieties?

i agree. pretty gross, but nowhere near the worst i've ever tasted. hands down worst beer ever is that ska brewery shit with the boot on it. uggggggggh

Anyone try this? Jester King Black Metal Imperial Stout. I saw it for $10 yesterday but I wasn't looking to buy an expensive beer right now.

I think $18 for a long neck or nearly $30 for a four pack.

Not cheap but in line with the price of beer over here.

i had this in Austin (where Jester King is based) and i really enjoyed it, had a smokey flavor but if you like stouts i'd give it a try. they have more varieties of beer too, only tried a couple of them though. they dont sell it here and i've only seen it in Austin when ive been there

omg. AMAZING Single hopped(Simcoe) Pale Ale from Russian River. Just bottled and released yesterday.Definitely straddles the line between IPA and APA. MY GOD the crispness and deliciousness of the hops! Incredible! They are only making one batch of this little slice of hop heaven so snag this bitch up soon!

If it's extremely good, I'm still up for a trade. I still have some Zombie Dust and, as you can see from above, got Gumballhead along with Dreadnaught. I also have Dogfish Head if you wanted some as well.

I suppose it depends on the amount of bottles. I'd guess for 4-5 bottles, maybe $10-15??? Maybe less?

Man, i'm drinking this with a grilled chicken pesto Sandwich on a toasted ciabatta bun with melted mozzarella and tomatoes. PERFECT pairing. The bright, dry hop bitterness in the finish just cuts right through the pesto, the light, bread-y malts meld with the bun. The acidity in the tomatoes just bounces playfully on the palate in conjunction with the hops. Man, what a great meal.
