used to be a great blackgaze band. Turned down the metal a lot, now more like shoegaze/post-rock. Both albums are great.

grails fans check it! side project of band members alex and emil amos. sounds similar to the normal grails style with a heavier focus on sampling rather than live instrumentation. awesome!!!!!!

New Kayo Dot is delayed until the 24th. Christmas miracle!

Also, that Kowloon album is sick, reminds me of a better Combat Astronomy

Also, I am pretty sure Gamma Knife is now five songs and not four. WHERE IS CHRISTMAS EVE, WHY ISN'T IT NOW

Now on last.fm he is saying it will be tomorrow if we're lucky but in the next few days for sure. He is claiming he said it would be near the 24th not particularly on the 24th but his post clearly states the date is 24th. whatadick

If I'm not listening to this by tomorrow night, I'm gonna BURN ALL MY KAYO DOT RECORDS.

speaking of which, the Coyote vinyl has a gorgeous packaging and sound job. Any fan of the album owes it to themselves to buy that shit. Same goes for Part the Second.

Couldn't agree more. I bought both editions of Part the Second (because I'm weird like that..) and only recently bought Coyote. Gorgeous packaging. Haven't had a chance to give it a good listen yet to check for any audible differences, but I'm quite excited to!

Nothing different about them except the LP's are stained differently. Completely unjustified purchase but I somehow feel satisfied owning both.

FUCK. Is it weird I'm actually stoked to hear this record's production? I'm sure more will be revealed in subsequent interviews but I get the feeling this record is a big "experiment" for Toby and the band apart from the actual music itself; as in, releasing something outside of a label, diy budget, recording live on 4 mics, internet distribution ("for various reasons I wanted this to be a 2011 release"... mysterious)... It's like an extension of the Part the Second's kickstarter diy but more extreme. I've always felt that KOdot, maudlin, tl/tlII etc have release and production factors that are as experimental and revolutionary as the music.

Also that Part the Second remaster on vinyl made it clear to me how much of a "metal" record it really is. Tone is fucking fierce and heavy.

I am actually extremely pumped to hear the production. I have an idea what the album is going to sound like I think but I'm sure it will be something I could never think of. The album is apparently one of the heaviest works they've done and doesn't even have a guitar. So I'm assuming it will be very bass heavy and some Naked City saxophone craziness will jump in maybe. I just feel this whole lo-fi / live thing will work out really well for the album. Hard to articulate my thoughts about it.

As far as Part the Second, the only song I'd even consider metal is the last one which is my favorite from PtS. The first and last songs are the only songs I love on it, the middle songs have parts that are emotional but Toby always switches it to something I end up hating. It just seems so meh compared to the songs on Bath / LYBM. BUT, PtS isn't a bad album at all I'd say, I just feel it is one of Toby and Co's most lackluster albums.

new Beneath the Massacre material:

http://lambgoat.com/bits/5940/Beneat...-two-new-songs

This is really a step up and recalls the potential of their first EP... There are actual riffs. That said Dystopia and Dysfunction are not the failures people make them out to be.

FFO of absurdly technical metal like Anomalous, Psyopus, Orgone...

Mechanics of Dysfunction has always been my favorite release, cause it's got some of the nastiest grooves I've ever heard. Dystopia onwards is alright, but all that shred gets boring quick.

Probably less "experimental" than the rest, but very enjoyable nonetheless.
