Cool.
And this: "They also revealed that they would not be mixing the album, instead bringing in Daniel Bergstrand who worked with the band on my two favorite records of theirs, Chaosphere & Destroy Erase Improve." I was not completly satisfied with Obzen production, specially with the drums sound. |

Super excited. I don't know how the hell they'll be able to follow obzen. That record is their pinnacle for me so far.

I liked 'Obzen', but it's very far from their best and I really feel they'll need to mix it up a bit more dramatically to catch me this time around. Curious to hear what they come up with.

my favourites are "destroy erase improve" and "chaosphere"!!! and nothing.
if they can manage it in a convincing way then i hope: more thrash! combustion was a step in the right direction for me. |

Agreed. I can not wait to hear what they have in store. Totally did not expect an album from them this year for some reason. Didn't even know they had been writing.

fuck yes. it's gonna be a long year keeping this in mind.
i enjoyed obzen a lot, but it wasn't as much of a step in a new direction as all of their previous albums have been. it sounds like a fantastic combination of all of their previous works, not to mention more melodic. regardless, i'm curious to see how this is going to turn out. |

awesome
I think meshuggah is one of those bands that hasn't put out a bad album but my favroite would include catch 33, obzen and nothing. |

Awesome! My favorite would have to be Catch 33 but I like all their material. While this is good news and all, I'd rather have some new Special Defects.

I've never been able to get too into ObZen. It's fine but nothing about it really grabs me. I think part of it is the vocal delivery/lyrics. It seems the vocal lines are designed to make the lyrics more prominent/comprehensible, but I really didn't like them. And spare me the fanboy "they're so deep and every line fits every riff" crap.

Fuck yes i cannot wait to hear this new record. Band can do no wrong to me. This will be a tough contender for AOTY.
Either Catch-33 or Nothing (re-release). Give either of them a shot and let us know what you think. |

You know what, I take that back. I don't care for everything on "Contradictions Collapse" and "Combustion" is lame as fuck. As for your question, I'm tempted to say "None" just for the pun. After listening to these guys for 10 years now, I think the re-release of "Nothing" is my favorite full length of theirs. Suck a heavy fucking album with the best grooves. It's also their most polarizing effort. "Catch Thirty-Three" is their best release as a band imo and one of the best pieces of music I've heard. I would check that one out or just go and listen to Fredrik's Special Defects, DEI, Chaosphere, and Obzen.
