Best grind/pv band you've seen live
Top 3 or 4 off the top of your head. MDF 09 had soooo much killer grind buit overall here are my favs:
Gridlink - FUUUUUUU. Directly in front during MDF set = win. Was blown away. Captain Cleanoff - Pissed off madness. Even better live then on album. The barrage of inflatable animals ruled too. Rotten Sound always destroy live. Very tight, good sound. Kill the Client - Intense. Love it when singers get into the crowd. Again, better live then on album. Honorable mention - Wormrot |

Wow, tough question!
Despise you has ruled every time I've seen them. I've seen every show they've played outside of LA (I think they might've played more of the west coast by now) In 2005 R.A.M.B.O., Machine Gun Romantics, S.S.E. (pre-Weak Minds) and some others really ruled. Every grind band at MDF has ruled imo, even the big stage stuff like Napalm Death (who failed every other time I saw them). Repulsion, Gridlink, Captain Cleanoff, Birdflesh, General Surgery, I could go on and on. InxDisgust played Noisefest 2 years in a row and that has always been fantastic. Last year Hooker Spit Windex and Pizza High Five really brought it! Unholy Grave a few years ago probably tops it all for me. That was fucking awesome! I would imagine that after MDF in a few months, it will change to Regurgitate or LDOH or something, but most likely Regurgitate. |

Discharge were life-affirming, Echo Rotten Sound - especially when Haito was still playing with them, German band called Perth Express years ago still resonates, Nasum in top 3 at least, Nashgul, Bloody Pheonix...Social Choas in top 5...so many more....

This is a really tough one to answer! Rotten Sound has never let me down, also gotta agree on Despise You and Unholy Grave! I thought Splitter was great at MDF a few years ago. I know alot of people hate on Brutal Truth on here, but I thought they ruled 3 of the 4 times I've seen them. Phobia can be hit or miss based on who's in the band, but a show I played with them back in '06 was one of the more insane shows I've played.

Rotten Sound - One of my favorite bands. My only beef was the set wasn't long enough.
Napalm Death - I've heard many hit and miss stories... Mine was a massive hit! I went in with high expectations and they still surpassed what I was expecting! Venomous Concept - Poison Apple has been my "get up and go" album for a couple years now! They played a small local club and the whole night had great vibes! Nails and Fistfuck also played this show. They should be mentioned as well The Bastard Noise - More experimental and less PV than MITB but, I don't care. It was their original line up and it was something I was waiting to see for years! System Shit (east coast version) - Canadian crust legends who have been around since '87. DRock (vocalist/main dude) is living in Vancouver now so there is also a west coast version but, they are apparently sloppy gutter punk... The east coast version is drunk crust grinding at it's best! Soil Of Ignorance - From Trois-Rivieres, Qc... These guys know their Power Violence! Think of Crossed Out played by 3 french dudes. A lot of energy and a big sound for 3 dudes Mesrine - The last time I saw them Jack was playing second guitar and Steve (x-ftf) was on bass! Heavy, tight, mincing grind perfection! Canadian legends and great friends! Mob 47 - Not grind but, still one of the best shows I have seen in a long time! I would have to say Today Is The Day as well just because I don't know what to call them as far as genres but, they have some grind moments. Kiss The Pig! Fuck The Facts - They are great every fucking time! FTF playing while Mel is about 7 months preggo... Enough said! ![]() I haven't had the oppertunity to see pure grindcore bands as much as I would like. QC has some great local bands but, there is only a small group of us who dig it so, it's rare to see grind bands come here. Consider me jealous about Gridlink, Despise You, Unholy Grave, Birdflesh, Captain Cleanoff, Noisear, etc... I'm grinding my teeth while reading that shit! Fuck you guys ![]() |

Brutal Truth have been boring as fuck every time I've seen them. Seen Dead Infection twice and they were eh. And RGTE sounded like shit when I saw them (hoping they're way better this year). |

Yeah, they were boring and the way they play the older songs now, I could barely recognize them... the vocals were especially disappointing. I've seen Regurgitate twice and it was the same with me, just a wall of noise (could be a good thing sometimes!), couldn't really make out many songs. Mesrine was a case of hearing a lot of good things about them and then not living up to expectations. Although, I saw them at Obscene Extreme with so many other bands that I may have been a bit tired already haha |

"Gridlink, Pig Destroyer, Magrudergrind, Phobia, Kill the Client"
Phobia was the only disappointing one out of these. They were simply OK. I was tired and there were much better bands before, so maybe that's why. Jig-Ai was much better live then on album, same with Pigsty. As long as RGTE get their sound down then them, LDOH or Extortion should be the most fun part of MDF this year. |

Phobia is pretty hit or miss. Seeing them at ABC was probably the best I've seen them. Tour with Impaled with Ross on bass was pretty good too.

Wormrot - barefoot grindcore. Say no more.
Epitome - dressed in blood splattered white coats and jigging across the stage like Mengele Mumakil - like being hit around the head with a bag of doorknobs leaving you wanting more. Honourable mentions to FUBAR, Squash Bowels, Splitter, Nashgul, Massgrav and Britain's finest, The Afternoon Gentlemen. Regurgitate will highly likely jump straight towards the top of the list in May, along with some of the likes of Extortion, Lack Of Interest and the rest who, let's face us, are never going to play the UK. I allegedly saw PLF too but I was far too gone to remember myself. |

Sensless Apcoalypse was probably the most insane/intense band i've seen live, period. Excruciating Terror and GASP were up there, too. Fiesta Grande '98 was like a dream come true for me.
More recently, PLF fucking floored me at the '08 Speed Trials. Dave kept getting hit in the mouth with his mic, and didn't stop until his guitar cable was severed. Plenty of other great bands too, like Noisear, In Disgust, Hatred Surge, SFN, Hummingbird of Death, Gride(!!!), Capt. Cleanoff, Wasteoid, could go on and on and on..... |

In the purely masochistic interest of making myself wish it was May all the quicker, how amazing are RGTE live?
I've been waiting literally years to see them live, always managing to have weddings or other unavoidable shit get in the way of the only realistic opportunities thus far... |
