![]() Absolutely stunning, I'm still blown away. Fantastic script and an amazing lead performance/character. Think Travis Bickle on roids, like literally. I really don't understand why it isn't talked about more. I'm positive a lot of you would dig, so yeah check it out broms, highly rec'd. |

I've been introducing my housemate to good 80s movies. So far watched Blade Runner and Wall Street.

I saw some Hollywood summer hits like The Avengers, The Cabin in the Woods, The Hunger Games...entertaining for sure, but still overhyped & overrated imo.
But The Raid: Redemption was fucking awesome. Great, warm movie with brilliant soundtrack. This tune is still jumping in my head: Highly recommended for open minded smn phaggots. Last edited by (((OdiumNostrum; 08-26-2012 at 06:37 AM.. |

Finally watched The Hunter. Much, much better and deeper than I expected. Was very happy to see that the hunting sequences were balanced with his relationship and characterization with the locals, and it wasn't all like Man vs. Wild adventure type shit. Great movie.
Also watched Drive for the 2nd time. The style pissed me off the first time and I kept just getting confused with it, but this time around it clicked much more with me and the strange melancholy atmosphere sunk in. Interesting, different movie, but not something I'd want to watch again and again. |

Anyway watched these gems yesterday: ![]() ![]() I don't think I ever saw two actors share a better on-screen chemistry than these two, as real as it gets honestly(and goddamit did I hate Ethan Hawke before seeing this), but I don't think these films would've worked any other way, since it basically depends on the witty/charming dialogue they're having. Can't really say which one I enjoyed more, but the sequel was probably overall the better movie, I think the acting in Before Sunset was even better than in the first one, heaps of subtleties/subtext and more room for drama, so you kinda feel how they grew as a actors/persons as well. The car scene was just beautiful, it served as the climax of the movie and it felt to me like it came out of nowhere and it literally just drowns you in raw emotions. I also liked how the whole movies was filmed in real time. The first one's amazing as well don't get me wrong, but just a bit more optimistic/romantic/beautiful. The best way to put it is to say that both movies show contrasting sides of one coin(just noticed the movie posters do that rather well actually). The latter seems more interesting because of the consequencing complications and repercussions of how the first one ended, being a bit on the bleaker side of things. A third one is being filmed right now afaik and I'm really looking forward to it, particulary since the ending of the sequel was a bit open(SPOILER i do think they cheated on their respective partners before he flew back to the states, but we'll see). I love how the second one was 9 released years after the first and the third one will be 9 years after the second one, it really gives the story a unique form of realism, which is not seen that often in movies or tv shows for that matter. Only being able to see one day in the life of two characters during their 20s, 30s and 40s is a brilliant idea. If you're into dialogue heavy films with minimalistic plot structure and strong sense for realism be sure to check this one out, it's definitely neither a chick flick nor a cheesy romance. |

Well, I just saw it and it was extremely disappointing. I haven't seen all of Cronenberg's films but this was definitely my least favorite. I'm a big fan of his but this was just terrible, would not recommend. :(

Watched Bunny Game. A twisted tale of depravity I think most would like. Kill List was fucking awesome, especially after multiple viewings. Re-watched The Orphan, The Thing and Outrage again. All are excellent.

Watched Ip Man 1 and 2 yesterday. Really good movies although they're a very long way off from being true to the life of Yip Man. I personally preferred the first one to the second.
I also started trying to watch 13 Assassins because I'd heard good things about it but it didn't catch my attention after more than an hour and the plot wasn't too interesting, nor the characters that memorable, atleast to me. I turned it off after a bit. Maybe I'll try watching it again another day. Watched Captain America this morning and for a movie that started out decent it got progressively worse in quality as the movie went on :/ They could have done so much better. Currently watching Tucker and Dale Vs Evil. Pretty funny movie so far. Very interesting idea for a movie I must say. :) |
