Recommend me some movies that cross horror with sci-fi. stuff like event horizon or the cell. Someone recommended that i watch "pandorum" so i'm gonna check that out tonight.

Trust me this is the first cam I've watched but that is all there is for this film so far :/ I was tired of waiting. The video quality was decent enough, the audio suffered the most but there isn't a whole lot of talking going on in the movie anyway.
It was excellent and I'm looking forward to an actual DVDrip of some sort (although I'll probably just buy the movie by then). |

Try seeking out the movie Lifeforce.. it's a pretty cool Tobe Hooper classic from like '85. Though maybe you've already seen it???

Lot of Cronenberg might be considered horror/sci-fi: Shivers, Rabid, The Brood, Scanners, Videodrome, The Fly, Existenz, but I take it that's probably not quite what you're looking for.
Event Horizon had a good premise but ended up really really stupid. |

Nevertheless do give Lifeforce a good gander, pretty good stuff. It's a unique take on the whole vampire ethos. |

![]() Just saw this last night. Mixed feelings on this. I found it entertaining some of the time but reallt cheezy other times. And the cgi blood is really hit and miss. Story was ok but found it similar to Cravens earlier work. Sucks cuz I'm a big fan of his early stuff but I guess his time has passed. |

i ordered lifeforce and picked it up today but didn't have a chance to watch it. last night i watched "pandorum". it was a pretty bad rip-off of event horizon. bad acting, forgettable characters... meh/10 stars
more sci-fi horror! |

![]() Another good film from Lars. The weird, kind of quirky drama flows really well with the grandiose existential element in a way that's much more grounded than something like Tree of Life. I like the awkwardness of the characters and the way it's really hard to feel an affinity with any of them. Typically Von Trier doesn't try to justify them with much of a back story which makes it doubly interesting that the characters can be so unsympathetic. The only thing that bugged me (without going to deep into spoiler territory) was that I couldn't figure out the significance of the guy with the ring. Anybody care to help me out? ![]() Brilliantly paced, with clever and well timed exposition. Obviously one of the best points has to be the cast, which is almost like a who's who list of English male acting talent. The atmosphere of cold war era Britain is engrossing. It makes me happy I was born a decade later lol. |

for the second time:
![]() one of the finest movies I've ever seen. what are your thoughts on the ending, or the movie in general? or the longer cut that's supposed to happen this year? |

![]() ended up going to see this last night, it was great but left you going "huh... well that's that I guess". It was short but the acting was fantastic all around. Also, fans of cronenberg's old stuff, this is way more akin to his more recent stuff. also, Keira is very engrossing in this movie (as opposed to her lack of cleavage, which you will see throughout the movie).... not gonna spoil anything but man she really plays her part well EDIT: Vincent Cassel is a boss in this movie too. I watched it (Once Upon a Time in America) a while ago and posted my thoughts. I can't actually recall the ending.

spoilers ahead the last scene is 1930's Noodles going to the opium den presumably after he's seen his friends' corpses. he hits the pipe hard and lays on his back. then right before the credits roll he cracks a big smile. I know some people think what happens in the 1960's is all a drug induced dream, and it kind of makes sense, but there's many ways to interpret the smile. Like for an example he's high as a fucking kite, but I'd like to think there's more to it than that. anyone else? |

that's highly recommended. at about 220 minutes it's a lot to take in and you're likely going to miss a lot of subtleties first time through...
