![]() 2DLK (apartment market slang for: 2 rooms, dining, living, kitchen) The citation on the poster hits it pretty much. Two wannabe actors share an apartment, and due to their rivalry and completely different personalities they get into some seriously epic bitch-fight. It's only 70 minutes and can be separated in two parts: The first, where they try to get along and have some ridiculous conversations, where the humor mostly stems from what they actually say, vs. what they think. The second part is how they go completely insane. The characters are fantastic, both are failed personalities with minor successes in the past which they cling to. The directing and pace is excellent, no redundant moments at all. It has a cool death/speed metal track as well. 9.3/10 ![]() Rainbow Song The major points in this one are failed love and film-making. The beginning tells you that the female protagonist dies at a plane accident. A recollection of past events occurs, where you learn of the relation between the two main protagonists and them making a film as part of their movie club, as well as their future in a small film company some years later. The "film in the film" is really cool and has great music. It is a sad and "slice of lifey" story about what could have been. Very enjoyable 7.8/10 Last edited by Naitz; 06-28-2011 at 08:21 PM.. |

I'll start off by saying that 'Blue Velvet' is pretty much a perfect movie to me. If you don't like that one, Im not sure what you're looking for in movies.
Just watched this, was entertaining and intriguing enough. I would have gone as far as saying it's really good had it stopped after the "freeze" in the train (if you've seen the movie, you'll know what I mean). Everything that comes after it is horrid, annoying BS and feels like the producer or the studio pushed Jones to add it on top. "Moon" sure didn't feel as compromised as this. ![]() |

I liked 2LDK. You could totally feel the tension between the two. And when that hardcore/thrash track hits, they unleash hell upon each other. Yeah, the fight is pretty vicious. My gripe is that cheap-looking CG blood moment, but I thought it ended well.
Did anybody see the other film in this competition? The one that Ryuhei Kitamura directed called "Aragami". It dealt with the same theme as 2LDK, and it was really good. Also, I know that Kitamura's films, except for Versus, get alot of bad criticism. But Azumi and Sky High are awesome films. The only movie that I ever disliked of his was Godzilla: Final Wars. |

![]() I feel like the poster is the best thing of this movie. This is sooo overrated. Every comment on imdb jizzes over it. Why? I thought it would be a cool romance movie, but it was a horrible Hollywood-style "romantic-comedy". You know, those kind of movies which can't decide between being funny or melodramatic. IT'S THE WORST GENRE EVER! It wasn't so bad technically, the production was really good. I kinda liked the "patchwork" style too: Many individual scenes, which where cool on their own. As a whole though, it sucked. Funny point one: IMDB has it rated as 8.2 with tons of (fanboy? fangirl?) reviews. Rotten Tomatoes doesn't have a single review and audience meter is 55%.... Funny point two: Hollywood made a remake of it which seems to be even worse. Fuck my life. That said, it was still cute, and 5.5/10 seems about right. (+2 for the nice chick already included) ![]() I have only cried once in my lifetime over a piece of film (and that was an anime, lol). Maybe that's the problem: That I am just not receptive enough towards the tragedy this movie unfolds. But maybe it's just not so good how people make it. The male protagonist was as bland as blandness can be, the actor has the same "chilly" face all the fucking time (I think it was the same soap-opera level guy who played in the Nodame Cantabile movie). The two female protagonists are like they came out of one of those dating sims: The hot, fashionable and presentable one, and the obviously (to me anyway) beautiful girl which is just dressed up to look like some "funny" and weird person. More cliché is hardly possible. Oh, by the way, the funny one dies at the end, after she offered her body to the main protagonist multiple times , who didn't even seem to notice. But after she died, of course, he is sad. But not super sad. I guess the guy couldn't play "super sad". Maybe I just wasn't in the mood though, a very reliable source says it's 4/5. I thought it was fucking boring. Last edited by Naitz; 07-01-2011 at 12:47 AM.. |

Koreans just know how to mash up all sorts of genres into their films. You may think you're going to watch a regular comedy, but then it morphs into an action, melodrama, horror, suspense, etc. type of movie, or becomes a cluster of multiple genres. I've always dug that about these films. If you didn't like this.. maybe you might like "The Classic" or "Windstruck". I have yet to see "My Mighty Princess" or "Cyborg She", but those other two are the best from the same director of MSG. A MUST SEE would be A Moment To Remember. That movie is tops, alongside The Classic, for me. I'd recommend the director's cut, if you can get a hold of it. ---- Late edit, I know. "Now and Forever" is a great movie, too. Can't believe that I left that one out. Last edited by HamaChanCutter; 07-03-2011 at 02:25 AM.. |

Watched The Fountain a couple of days ago. I really liked it, especially all of the crazy imagery. It was pretty damn depressing though haha.
