Yeah, I agree, this is a smokin' album. I dunno if I'd call it the best album ever, but it's really good. Gets better the more you listen to it, and i've listened to it a lot lately. The last LAST track i can't stomach sometimes, but it has it's moments.

My favourite moments are definitely A Step Closer and ..Garden of Ma'at. Can't say my attention was much grabbed otherwise! Back to the shelf it goes.

It usually takes me a while to get into a lot of music, but I loved Elvenefris from the start. Maybe I'm ADD but I see nothing wrong with the transitions in the album. The only song where I can think of it being a little too much is in Shine of Consolation, but it's clear and obvious that that's what they were going for there.

The production serves it well IMO. It adds to the INSANE amount of depth that is found in the songwriting, but melodically and harmonically.

I agree, I couldn't get into it at first. Usually I hate this type of production, but it adds so much atmosphere to the music in this case. The guttural vocals don't seem to fit at first, because some parts are really melodic/epic, but that's what makes this band awesome.
For a band to be able to acquire a unique sound, especially nowadays, I think it's necessary to try stuff that normally wouldn't work together. If they were more controlled, they probably would have just sounded like another Nile-esque band, but they took their chances and it was worth it.

^I guess it's overated everywhere then. I've never been to a place (physcially and online) where this album wasn't heavily praised (If they even know about it that is).

Yeah, it's pretty much a classic, it's praised on most metal boards where people know what they're talking about.
