Really wish I could just sit down and record all the other shit I had. Wouldn't be that bad if programming drums didn't take so fucking long...

yo bromz. Here's a track I recorded several weeks ago, consists primarily of groovy riffage.
http://ionprod.com/wp-content/upload...01/Passage.mp3 The recording is rough and the drums were programmed on the spot just to have something guiding the flow. The song itself isn't done, I'd like to have more of a guitar-layering thing happening as opposed to straight riffage, but I wanted to see what you guys thought of the backbone of the song :) Happy Sunday

Haha, I figure most of this board won't like the recording quality (or the music, in general), but we just wanted to make it as raw and punk as possible, as cheesy as that sounds.

my band's pretty much straight up rock n roll, with some songs leaning towards popular shit. we will never have 0 00 0 0 0000 chugdownz though.

Yeah, I'd say going to shows is easily the most crucial part. I've found it a lot harder to meet people at shows with most kinds of music, though, as opposed to hardcore shows, due to how tightly knit the community is and all.
But even with my show friends, I've had countless band ideas just get set aside eventually, because no one was really dedicated to it. What helped with my band was that our singer was really stoked on it, and he kind of pushed the rest of us to work at it, until eventually we got into it too...so I think even having one person that's super-dedicated is useful. I think it might be harder for you, since you want people to play stuff that's already written...it's always a nice feeling to actually have some kind of stake in what's being written, rather than just play someone's shit. I dunno, ISS COMPLICATED. |

I'd say it's way easier to start a band when you already have music written. 2-3 demo songs should be plenty.
It puts less pressure on the guys joining, and it gives you a really convenient starting point for when you want to write new music with the group. They don't even have to be great songs, they just have to be proof-of-concept like a pilot episode on TV. Of course, ideally you'd find someone that shares your vision and that you write well with before you start writing, but that's what's hard. Starting a band with friends is great for this, but being in a band with friends can also get messy now and then. |

I know most of you aren't into this kind of thing, but my band just finished our second demo. Check it out, if ya want.

I'll post the only metal project I have (even though it isn't a band, since it's just me recording multiple layers):
duskofheaven•bandcamp•com It's drone metal, I might come back to it and record another album. I might be done with it for good. But I'll still use this Bandcamp to release my other projects, under different names. New age stuff coming up! |
