lol no, but I normally listen to it once, say my opinion and that's it. I have no intention of keeping those mp3s, and a bit too lazy to be erasing them. I have tons of yours and marlons midis in my pc I only heard once, should erase them

I'm referring to how much as far as metal recordings are concerned. Basically trying to avoid that pumping sound since the attack/release times are so quick.

I useally go for softknee, 2:1, 30 ms attack, 5/10 ms release.

yeah, that's similar to my settings. softknee, 2:1, 20 ms attack, 10 ms release, with about -2.5 in gain reduction. though I think I mixed it down in RMS mode instead of Peak.

20 is quit fast in my book :D

From the information I've been gathering online, some of the articles/videos say 30 ms is considered a long release, while 10 is quick. Quite a lot of different explanations concerning what's consider a fast or slow attack/release time, but I guess that all depends on the style of music you're compressing.

I set the attack to 30 ms and applied about 2db more of compression and cranked the make-up gain just a tad. The transients are poking through (yay!), but the snare still gets buried during the cannibal blast sections. I might just need to change the velocity hits during that part to fix it (edit: fixed)
