On the side of the painting there's a button you can take, and under it is a slot for a key. Gotta put the key in there, and I'm pretty sure the key is underneath the chair.

Yep, got that far. I've also unscrewed the outlet and got a third button, now I'm stuck. I've opened the briefcase, got everything inside there, and now the safe is left to be cracked, the button with the colored lock, and the floorboard. :/

Put all 3 buttons inside the lazer, then shine the lazer on the safe and it will give you the combination

After you unlock the safe, I used the wrench thing and unbolted all the bolts out of the legs of the chair, and collected the bolts, and now I'm at a complete dead end.

Spin it to 8 on the right, 53 to the left, 46 to the right, 24 to the left. Don't go all the way around to get to the next number, just go straight to the number.

If it says right, click the left side, etc.

You don't need to go past a number like 3 times or whatever, just go straight to each number.

some "enlightenment" is required for the right panel, too. if you activate some buttons in an orderly fashion (say, the 4 in the corners), what do they resemble that you have in your inventory?
