i just bought a ton of albums i had originally pirated. i felt like an asshole because i had the audacity to call these bands some of my favorites but wasn't a decent enough person to actually buy the albums. sucks that some of them don't exist so i don't know what to do about that. like bongripper's great barrier reefer. it's so good. it doesn't exist.

New album by Origin. It's well coherent for a tech death album (and the technicality is out of this world), and it's brutal enough to get me entertained and angry as a good death metal album is supposed to. I freaaaakin love it. GET. IT. NOW.

I feel like I'm the only one around here who really likes hip hop but, everyone should check out Big Boi's album from last year (Big Boi is one half of the group Outkast. everyone knows Outkast!). It has been very overlooked but it's a really really good album.

Whoa! does this mean you haven't heard Marshall Mathers LP? In my opinion one of the absolute best albums in the genre. I don't think he'll ever top it. It's not quite as personal and depressing as Recovery but there definitely is a lot of emotion in it. "Kim" is one of the most disturbing songs I've ever listened to. Even the uncensored album version has a blanked out lyric.

this is the cadenza that is in Rape Escape. Here you can hear how a different pianist can give the same musical notes an entirely different mood. Yuja Wang is absolutely gorgeous and this is one of the best interpretations I've heard...but it still doesn't even compare to Valentina's recording on Rape Escape. she plays it too fragile...whereas you can hear the string break in Valentina's version because she's playing so hard. it's one of my favorite pieces in music, but I have yet to hear a pianist play the cadenza as perfect and intense as Valentina. I desperately want her to do the whole piece.

Yeah I'm listening to that EP on repeat, it's good. I'm surprised to be honest. Not that I thought David wasn't good enough to pull it off, but side projects are usually bad, no matter how talented the musician. But this is good music!
