went to my moms tonight for dinner and my sisters kid is worse than before. when we set her down, she can not even stand up and walk. The docs have not even done blood work on her yet. I am freaking out, she should be in the hospital. My sister has called Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN but they wont take her because my sister is on Medical Assistance. Obviously Fargo is not equiped or we have just run into some dumb doctors. This shit is ridiculous and I feel like I should be doing something to help her but I do not think there is anything I can do.

lastly...sometimes friendly "strangers" are the best people to talk to...wish theres was more to be done on our end besdies saying "good luck" and all that shit...but i dont find it odd really, what fun would it be if we only ever made poddy jokes? Okay..itd still be kinda fun but whatever....you get it, community etc. /rambling.

Well actually I got pell grants that pretty much covered my schooling but I had to take out loans for a macbookpro and a Canon SLR. Of course I sold the camera and laptop when I quit school and I didnt use the money to pay back the student loans. lol.

Sister's kids bloodwork came back normal and they want the kid to see a fuckin psychiatrist. Wtf is that going to help. The kid could walk a month ago and now she can not even stand up. My sister called me just crying and I do not know how to help her. =(

student loans / school as a whole is generally a large ripoff IMO...but i could about all the reasons education is fucked up but it would just be a waste of all of our time. college has been nothing but consistent disappointment for me so far...i guess its my own fault for thinking i could like it and believing the shit they tell you about it before hand...whatever.

i agree on the psychiatrist thing...seems madly random, but sometimes that stuff can do great htings (althought it tends to be horse shit in the end :( )...are they continuing testing beyond the blood work? As always, best of wishes.

No they are not doing any more testing. We are looking for a second opinion. We are going to get a referral to take her to my cousins doctor. He is a specialist, my cousin has a SUPER RARE disease called Maple Syrup Urine Disease and he is the one who has helped my cousin live a normal life, he is 16 now. I am just hoping something happens soon cause I feel so bad for my sister. I can sit over here at my own place and try not to think about it, but it's her kid and she can never escape it and she has to sit there and deal with it. I would be overwhelmed as I am sure she is at this point.


As for skoo, I loved it. I loved going to school every week and getting a new difficult assignment and then procrastinating til the night I had to do it and then getting that self gratifying A on every assignment. During school I said I hated it, but I love proving myself and showing the rest of the class that my assignments were pretty much better than theirs. =X

maybe thats the differnece though...youre in something artsy.....i'm in for something very technical...everyones end result is essentially the same, unless you did it wrong. alternative solutions are "wrong" by standards. There is no creativity in the things I have to do...as such I'm seriously considering a change of school / major or maybe even going off to military for a while or something.....idk...just needing a change of pace in life.

Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD) is an inherited disorder so named because one of its first signs is urine that has an odor reminiscent of maple syrup. The underlying defect disrupts the metabolism of certain amino acids. These are amino acids that have a branched side chain. Because they cannot be fully broken down, they accumulate in the urine, along with their metabolites (alpha-ketoacids) to give the distinctive smell. Left untreated, there is progressive neurodegeneration leading to death within the first months of life.

Three amino acids have branched side chains: valine, leucine, and isoleucine. They are an essential element in the diet and are broken down by the body to yield energy. One step in this breakdown involves the branched-chain alpha-ketoacid dehydrogenase (BCKDH) complex, which consists of three catalytic components and two regulatory enzymes. In total, six gene loci encode for the BCKDH, and mutations in different loci are responsible for the genetic variety seen in MSUD.

The Mennonite community of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania is particularly afflicted by MSUD, with over 1 of 176 individuals affected. This is due to a high carrier rate of a mutation in the E1alpha-subunit of the BCKDH complex. By contrast, the disease is rare in the general population.

Currently treatment consists of restricting the dietary intake of branched-chain amino acids to the absolute minimum that is needed for growth. However, studies have already shown that it is possible to transfer subunits of the BCKDH enzyme into cells using a retrovirus. Similar advances in gene therapy may provide a future cure

Since working in a chinese school , most of the little kids I teach don't have english names so i think of them. So of course I have named kids after the members and former members of the band ahha .
