Gonna drink either Green Flash West Coast IPA or Jolly Pumpkin's Calabaza Blanca tonight. Shall be a fun evening.

Nice! Have you had Delirium Noël? I was going to buy a bottle, but it was pretty expensive and the reviews for it have said that it's only ok.

My dad told me about it last summer, I found a place that had it on tap and tried it... then got some on a beer run in Port Huron, Michigan.

It actually doesn't taste that great out of a typical pint glass. Really needs a snifter to bring the flavour to the forefront.

Also the bottle I had here was uh, a bit past the best before date.

I almost bought a bottle, but I didn't - for the same reasons you didn't. I'll be making another beer run in Buffalo within the next month or so and I may just try a bottle for the sake of it.

I'm assuming this is a joke?

Of course they do.

Toronto has a shit ton of local breweries, and a lot of local communities have their own brewers. I'm not too big on any of the Toronto breweries [Mill Street, Amsterdam, Steam Whistle].

Quebec also has some fantastic brewers, like Dieu du Ciel and Unibroue.

I haven't tried many from out in Western Canada, except for a few different brews from Granville Island Brewing - all of which are relatively decent at worst.

Problem with Canada is that our beer prices are fucking ridiculously high [a 12 pack of cans of Bud is like $18] thanks to the fact that there are very strict beer distribution laws that create absolutely zero ability for competitive pricing.

In Ontario, we can legally only buy beer from two places: the government-run LCBO [Liquor Control Board of Ontario], which only sells singles, sixes and 12s - and is really the only places to get craft beer from anywhere, and the Beer Store, which is owned by InBev, Sapporo and Miller/Coors. There is nowhere else to buy beer in Ontario and it creates a ridiculously high cost of everything because there is no competition. Obviously this also contributes to bar prices being super high, because they can only bring in draught beer from the Beer Store, so the price of kegs is sky high too.

tl;dr: Canada sucks sometimes.

Yea it was a joke, but half serious, cause I don't know about any. I've had Unibroue but I thought it was from France (only because of the french on it haha, but that explains it.)

That really sucks about buying beer in Ontario though man. I would get really upset about that. That's ridiculous. There are so many great places around me to buy good beer and they aren't even half of what some places are here that I've been to in the U.S. I guess I take them for granted sometimes. But now that I hear about this it puts things in perspective.

Went to Hunahpu day in Tampa last week. Got to go to Peg's and enjoy some of the best beers in the world the day before: Rare DOS, RareR DOS, then versions with chilis and coconut: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22147/79241

The night before that was Angry Chair's release event with some bad ass Berliners. I brought back a growler of Jai Alai, too. Great weekend.

Anybody get any Kentucky Breakfast Stout from Founder's? Just came out around here. My buddy got a few. I need to scope out the place I usually go to and see if the guy who works there saved a private stash.

Had a chance to try it on Sunday at a beer festival in Athens. It was really good but I don't get all the hype about it. Tasted pretty similar to their regular breakfast stout to me...then again I was pretty drunk by the time I got around to tasting it.

Audible Ale from Red Hook is fantastic. Also Bell's Hopslam is the best beer I've probably ever had.

Every place around that was able to get a case told me they sold out within hours. Though, I was lucky enough to get a bottle of Founders' Doom.

I have all of the hunahpu left. Trying to maybe find a trade. I'm not sure, yet. Would like a Dark Lord, if possible. Also, there's this:

Quote:
I was putting these together and thought you all might appreciate them. I started with the Libbey Beer Flight sets http://amzn.com/B005BU8FFQ and a wood burning tool from the craft store. I put all of the guys' nicknames on them and "father of the groom/bride" on theirs. First one turned out well:

Then comes the good part! I have been grabbing stuff when I can for their respective tasting levels and just started putting them together:

I'll have to grab some more to finish them off, but here's one just about complete:

Of course, I had to enjoy something during assembly:

That's it. Hope you either get some ideas for the future or like what I did! Any thoughts/comments/concerns are appreciated!

Had my first Two Hearted Ale tonight and my first Hoptimum. Both were awesome but didn't like the after taste of Hoptimum.
