Re: I miss HORSE
please don't read into this or speculate too wildly but at one point, (i recall it was tailing a song but maybe it was separate) they played something short that i didn't recognize.
may have been just an outro variation or something to whatever song it followed, which i think was house of boo. could have been just like that little intro they played as an opener and lead-in to birdo in tours a couple years ago (remember?) horse the fag and i just looked at each other like, "what is going on here?" |

Re: I miss HORSE
No video of it from us. But I believe at the very end of this video is the very beginning of this new thing, the brief little drum intro.

Re: I miss HORSE
Looks like there was a nice audience there?
How can a niche band not create new music and hardly tour for years, yet still be this appreciated, even by the youth? ... They must be geniuses. |

Yeah...I noticed that too...not sure if by choice. Should inquire some day.

Re: I miss HORSE
So, I saw HORSE at Ieperfest this weekend. They sounded awesome.
I had time to chat a little with Erik. This "mystery song"...he thought it was probably a heavy intro/outro into Horse the Song or something, but not a new song. He did say they we're making some new stuff, but in a way that makes me think it could be a while before we hear it. |

Re: I miss HORSE
Did a deep dive of Desperate Living last night in a record club I'm a part of, and GOD DAMN does that record hold up. I think I have a much deeper level of appreciation for it now that I'm roughly the same age as the guys when they wrote it. We also talked about how if HORSE was coming up now (forget the pandemic) they'd probably thrive, due to some more appreciation for authenticity in the "scene." Thoughts?

Re: I miss HORSE
I don't know about how they'd be doing now, but I think their music is emotional, evocative, well constructed, and remains interesting, and the poetic lyrics fit perfectly. HORSE is still one of my favorite bands, I played some Desperate Living myself recently. circuitsoldiers orchestral covers don't even suffer from the "missing" vocal melody, and when I listen to them I think they would now be seen as some of the great composers of the classical age if they had lived then.
