Catchy tech-metal?

Can anyone recommend such songs? I don't mean stuff that you can hum from memory after listening to them a couple dozen times, but stuff that's immediate and easily recognizable, like Gorod's "Chronicle From the Stone Age" and Anata's "Better Grieved Than Fooled".

Very easily. There's not a single SS song or riff that I can hum from memory after the first or second listen.

Strange. I can hum quite a few. The opening riff to Question was stuck in my head for like a week after they released that song.

Maybe, but that's basically a slam riff. Those are always easy to remember. The rest of the song... not so much.

That's not to say it's a bad song at all, but it just doesn't fit the typical definition of 'catchy'.

lol, by your definition suffocation isn't catchy either because there's nothing you can hum. Since when was ease of vocalization the sole criteria for catchiness?

I was actually going to make a thread about this band. You never see any talk about them. The Calculus of Evil is a major win.

A bit off-topic, but Symbyosis' On The Wings of Phoenix has some of the best SOLOS I've ever heard on a tech metal album... right up there with some of the leads from the Death "trinity"...

Don't take everything so literally. I'm talking about songs filled with riffs that instantly grab you. Suffocation's songs aren't quite so immediate most of the time, but their simpler stuff, like on Despise the Sun definitely fits the definition... though it really isn't all that technical.

That was the first thing I noticed when I heard Might is Right. Every member stands on their own well, but their bassist is crazy awesome.

anyway.. you can't say severed savior arn't catchy just because you don't find them catchy.. obviously others do, you're a fan of Gorod that's why you named them and find them catchy.. i don't find them catchy. a bands catchyness especially in tech metal is pretty much down to the listener and how much they take in when they listen to the music.. you can argue till you're blue in the face you'll still be wrong at the end f the day.

There is no "humming", it's people singing "dun dun dun DUN dun" in semi-pitch while airdrumming.

Honestly, Tzim, looks like you just need a shot of Black Dahlia Murder from the sounds of it, rofl.
