In Flames - The Jester Race
Shadow - Shadow
Arch Enemy - Burning Bridges

Don't like the genre of swedish melodic death. But there is 2 albums:
1. At the Gates - the red in the sky is ours
2. At the Gates - with fear I kiss the burning darkness

Soilwork- APP, FN5, NBC

Darkane- ES, LOL (lol)

Arch Enemy- AOR, BB, WOS

The Haunted- THMDI, OKW

I used to love this kind of genre, especially when I started learning guitar. Shame a lot of this bands turned into shocking pop acts now. Would love to hear some underground MDM now as I never bothered to find some after the mentioned bands turned into bringer of fags.

By the way this is my fav Melodic DM band these days:

Haven't enjoyed an album of this genre for a long time!

Im not sure if The Chainheart Machine by Soilwork can be considered melodic death metal but I think its a fucking masterpiece.

i'd also add some early Dark Tranquillity (later ones are also good, but i'm almost a fanboy so...). Eucharist are kinda ok. Intestine Baalism are pretty good iirc (it's been a while)

was just listening to the jester race again, really such an effective metal album. some of the songs (graveland, december flower, dead god in me) still give me chills.

Yes, much better because they weren't "melodic death metal" yet. Slaughter was their low point for me.
