Hype over this piece of shit band?

Thulcandra. What the fuck!? Can anyone talk about this band without mentioning the other band that starts with the letter "D"? Let me see.....nope.....they want to sound like Dissection. All the interviews, all the hype, all the reviews--everyone mentions Dissection. What a sad existence of a band to be constantly compared to Dissection. That is really the only thing anyone ever says about them. The co-founder even committed fucking suicide just like Jon from Dissection! It's despicable.

But really, they don't sound like Dissection because Dissection sounded GOOD. I don't mind bands ripping off other people's style but Thulcandra did it completely and not even very well. Vinterland and Sacramentum are similar to Dissection without ripping them off, and those two bands are great.

Fuck Thulcandra. Just had to rant. I hope no one acknowledges this piece of shit band.

I don't mind these dudes that much. There are tons of copy cat bands out there and they're pretty good at making Dissection-ish black metal.

I actually like this band. It is the first band I've had a feeling almost as intense (see the ALMOST) as the first time I've heard Dissection.

Very happy for the release, I just knew about them and listen to them for the first time yesterday because of your post and I must say a huge thanks, even if that wasn't your purpose ahah!

Really, I'm looking forward to this, because there's no other band which have a sound/feeling that is naturally close to Dissection, and they really managed to have it.

Yea, I heard these guys and instantly thought they were a dissection rip off, not that I even enjoy Dissection to begin with.

I do have to say, 2 thumbs down to Thulcandra.

First off, this band's entire purpose of being is to pay tribute to Dissection. At least they are straight-forward about it. If you don't like them for THIS specific reason, that's pretty shallow. If you like the music, you like the music. Hell of a lot better than the shit that Watain's been putting out recently, which has turned into "we're redefining black metal" but really it's just if Dissection weren't quite as good. I guess if you don't like Thulcandra because of that, whatever....that's kind of dumb. If you legitimately don't like their music, say you don't like their music. I just think it's a childish, shallow argument to hate on a band because of something that has nothing to do with what you hear on their albums.

It's just sort of in poor taste. It's one thing to be influenced by a band, it's another to lift entire song structures fill them with virtually the same chord progressions and what have you. It's a creatively disingenuous marketing ploy.

I haven't heard the most recent Watain album, but Casus Luciferi and Sworn to the Dark don't really remind me of Dissection at all, except for a few surface similarities.
