Marduk - Serpent Sermon
Whole album streaming on Cvlt Nation. Must say on first listen it's sounding shit hot. Loved Rom 5:12 but thought that Wormwood was shite. This sounds different again with very obviously Funeral Mist qualities.

Heard it twice, and it sounds pretty mellow imo, I loved mammon and the last two long tracks but the rest is pretty meh. Maybe its a grower

I'm enjoying it anyway. The preview track did nothing for me so I wasn't expecting much but I don't think there's been a particularly weak moment so far. Into Second Death bing a definite highlight.

Ouuu, thanks! I popped Rom in a few weeks ago. First time in a long time and it has to be one of my favorite vocal performances ever. I LOVE Mortuss' vocals, he puts a lot of heart in to it. For some reason, I'd love to hear him over a Deathspell Omega track, he'd be perfect.

Last time I saw them live was after Rom 5:12 so I was really looking forward to it but it was complete shit bar when Alan Averill got up for Accuser/Opposer. Hadn't noticed the talk about this in the BM 2012 thread so apologies for starting a new one.

But if you haven't heard Funeral Mist - Salvation already (which you very well should if you're gushing over Mortuus' vocals), that album has some obvious similarities with SMRC. |

Salvation is essential listening as is Triumphator - Wings of Antichrist.

Wings of Antichrist is a pretty good Norsecore kind of album, and it's definitely an awesome listen if you're looking for a good vocal performance from Arioch/Mortuus, but I wouldn't say it's as inspired as Salvation. Funny thing, I think it kind of sounds more like older Marduk than Marduk with Mortuus does. |

That make sense really cause, to me, Marduk with Mortuus is like a totally different band. I can't speak for the last album cause I only listened to it maybe twice but this one seems to be going in a slightly different direction again.

Listened once and deleted in disappointment... Wormwood was decent, not as good as Rom, but I found this really boring. Maybe I should give it another chance.

Was about to do the same, but trust me, the second half of the album is where it's at. First half is too Wormwood-boring shitfest indeed though. |
