I don't really listen to much "doom" anymore, but I thought of these:
My Dying Bride - Turn Loose The Swans disembowlment - Transcendence Tiamat - Clouds Anathema - Serenades + Crestfallen EP Paradise Lost - Gothic any Evoken is a good recommendation. If you want doom with only clean vocals, check out Solitude Aeturnus - In Times of Solitude, although I can't stand that shit. |

Graves At Sea - Documents Of Grief
![]() this gem is a riff-o-rama. Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus ![]() Only listen to the first. Album kinda sucks but the first song "solitude" is awesome. Candlemass - Nightfall ![]() you cannot deny the classics of doom |

One of my favourite bands. All of their stuff is great. All four albums are amazing. Recording a new one this year as well. Really enjoying this demo. It's up for download on their FB page. Also: Ahab - The Call of the Wretched Sea Esoteric Indesinence - Noctambulism Evoken - The Antithesis of Light Yob - The Illusion of Motion The Wounded Kings - In the Chapel of the Black Hand |

This is basically the best doom album ever. So harsh and fucked, yet still beautiful. The second disc in particular is just immense. All the samples are fucking perfect. Takes a bit of getting into in order to realise its greatness though.
ESOTERIC - THE PERNICIOUS ENIGMA ![]() ^The drums in this song are probably the best I've ever heard in doom. The bit at about 5:50 (as the sample ends) is basically the most epic shit ever. |

I gladly recommend the following as well..
Burning Witch Pilgrim Hour of 13 Earthride Decrepitaph (though people often call 'em Death Metal still, they have plenty of slower doom passages to pass off as "doom" and they're real good too!) |

as far as esoteric goes, check out their first album "epistemological despondency." pretty much one of the trippiest and most fucked up hateful doom metal albums ever put to record

Saint Vitus - s/t (Another essential classic IMO)
![]() Great album. It's a shame they didn't play their self-titled track at MDF. There's a lot of obscure shit posted here, but I recommend starting with the classics, and then work your way up to Graves At Sea. |

Without any shadow of a doubt, he should go for In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend first. Every other album has some filler except the debut.

Great album. Go for Pentagram next if your on for the more rocky buzz so. Can't go wrong. As with any genre, with all it's sub genres etc it's a vast wasteland your looking at.

Lille: Yeah fairly close to Disembowelment, particularly their earlier stuff. Transcendence is pretty much the only doom album that compares to Pernicious. As Nova said, you should also check out Epistemological Despondency, you'd like that too.
