There's one thing that I do not understand though. I've never ever ever seen any of you guys rep or post about any 1st wave bm or classic 2nd wave bm, it's always the newest shit that leaked or whatever that you guys rant on about. Am I the only one here who thinks 95% of the black metal that has come out in the past 10 years doesn't even come close at all to the original norwegian bands ? It's kinda why I sometimes just give up on listening to new black metal unless I already know the band cause most of the time its just blatantly derivative of an original 90s band and it just makes me want to listen to them instead.

The whole "it was better in the 90"s spiel is tiring. It's exciting finding new music that stirs something inside you, and I'm sorry for you that you can't or don't put the effort into finding new bands that do so. Threads like these are what make this forum awesome.

and you don't see people rep the true classicks because they've already been repped to death and everyone already knows that everyone likes all of those albums. and this is a 2012 thread.

Pretty delicious.
Holy shit! Great band indeed.. I've seen them open up for numerous bands here in Brooklyn (especially since they live here, haha) and each and every time they fucking ripped! I see a bright future for them indeed!

Have you heard Winterfylleth's "The Mercian Sphere"? I ask because I like it more than either Wodensthrone album.

This.

And also weren't there a series of posts a few pages back in this thread or another black metal one where someone asked for second and first wave recommendations? I distinctly remember making a list of my 1st wave essentials.

This boring argument has already been done and over with, I'm sure you learned something and contributed, so please quit your bitching illuminatiano and try to enjoy the new black metal releases or else. :willram

I like it a lot. Feels different from wodensthrone stylistically though and it would be hard to compare, but if I had to choose I would go with Mercian Sphere as well.

Im never the one that finds new bands really around these parts but i do check these two blogs the most often. They are pretty consistent in posting top notch music.

http://equivoke-mdl.blogspot.com/
http://perceptiondissonance.blogspot.com/
(second one is a little less kvlt but still good none the less)

Yeah, I don't like them at all. Musically, or personally for that matter... I find it highly dubious that the UK metal press is behind them 100% and barely give Wodensthrone the time of day.

Yeah, they are amazing. Really lovely people too, especially Gavin the guitarist and Katie the violinist! See them live if you get the chance, it's quite a unique experience!

I don't read the UK metal press. It's weird to think of some kind of media scheme happening in this genre. And personal dislike? Elaborate on either if you feel like it.

My personal favorite demos from this year so far

All of these are first efforts from each band
