Don't know, don't care. Probably not. But I don't treat anything Johnny Guyliner has done with reverence.

Besides The Hunter, last night I watched:
Take Shelter ![]() Loved this. It's slow and unnerving and creepy and Michael Shannon is incredibly on point. The whole time, his character hangs out in this really small grey area between being a normal blue-collar dude and bat shit crazy, where you're not really sure what's happening--it's very unsettling. Young Adult ![]() If I would have known this was a Reitman/Cody movie before I rented it, I never would have rented it...or, I still would have rented it, and thrown it out the window on the way home. Fucking hated it. Charlize Theron's character is so fucking reprehensible and unlikeable that I almost turned it off a couple times. I can't think of any redeeming qualities at all--not even Patton Oswalt is enough to make me recommend anyone watch it, ever. Last Of The Mohicans ![]() I've got this on deck for tonight when I get off work: ![]() |

Une Prophete
Please watch, and enjoy. It's on Netflix Canada so it's probably on Netflix everywhere else. |

![]() Idk, I would give it 7,5/10...visually beautiful, slow (but not boring), but it really didn't hook me up so much. |

I thought Sunshine had great potential, but the last third totally flubs it. I found the sudden turn very preposterous and out of sync with the rest of the film.

![]() I just finished this. Holy shit, Fassbender is such a phenomenal actor. He should've at least gotten an oscar nod for this. Dude was already pretty great as Magneto, but there's so much detail in this performance. It's basically a really intense, thoughtful and nuanced character study about a sex addict. That chick from "Drive" is also in it. Awesome cinematography and soundtrack too. Glenn Gould performing Bach and John Coltrane's on it as well, how great is that? The main theme is also absolutely fitting, especially during the climax of the movie. I really need to check out "Hunger". @Cernunnos Yeah, although Boyle claims that this is exactly the way he wanted the audience to feel. Quote:

Matt, Take Shelter and Young Adult was the two of the last few movies I saw. I completely agree with you.
Hey Eternal, did you find a good torrent or what? |

Shame was indeed excellent. There's quite a bit of underlying stuff that you might not catch the first time you see it... And yes Fassbender was excellent.
If someone had asked me if I thought 'sex addiction' was a real thing I probably would have said 'no' but after seeing Shame I have to definitely say 'yes'. Can't answer for him but the movie comes out on DVD in May so expect a good rip by then. |

Nah unfortunaley not, man.
I'm too impatient so I just watched in a shitty quality over a stream. But it just hit the theaters over here and I'm thinking about seeing it again. |

Stupid, and it looked like fuck--it was like a shitty version of Gran Torino shot with a 5D and a single light. Disappointed.

Originally the movie was meant to be based in London but no sex addicts were willing to come forth and talk about their addiction so They went for a New York back drop because the addicts were alot more open and upfront about their addiction. Might go tomorrow night.. Steve McQueen did another film with Fassbender called Hunger which is pretty awesome. I haven't seen shame yet so I can't say "if you liked Shame, check it" but it's the same team so there could be a chance you'll like Hunger. |

Watched this last night:
![]() Funny, though-provoking and dark. Christopher Waltz steals the show, but Reilly really turns it on during the last 35 minutes or so. Except for Jodie Foster, who is a annoying twat throughout, my opinion of all the other characters was drastically different at the end than it as at the beginning and flip-flopped a few times during the movie. Also, saw this on /Film today. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but it's an unreleased documentary on Disney called The Sweatbox, about a failed animated movie they tried to make The fine cut is up on YouTube, so it has slates and timecode and stuff, and who knows how long it'll be up for, but it's a good opportunity to see it. If it's down and anyone wants, I downloaded a copy of it that I can up. |

Isn't it obvious that Gran Torino sucked? It's filled with cliches and awful acting. Harry Brown was a better take on the same theme, and it had better villains.
Anyway, I finally watched Until the Light Takes Us. I dig that thoughtful black metal fans basically have to walk away thinking that their heroes are juvenile. Fenriz seems pretty chill, though. "People like to dress up." Last edited by LesserAnimal; 03-23-2012 at 06:17 AM.. |
