Anyone here...
ever stand in front of a juiced JCM 800 with two 4x12's and an EQ running into the high input with the mids and level boosted a little? In a barn?
Because I did.... just yesterday. and now im a different person. I then took it home with me (I didn't buy it, it's a mates) and fucked around with it, so many riffs came out of that thing. It's child flooringly loud. ![]() Last edited by Orkestra; 03-10-2008 at 09:30 AM.. |

Hopefully it sounds better than your atrocious tone coming out of your powerball on that demo/ep/whatever of yours.

I can talk as much as I'd like, haha. My drummer's 15 watt marshall amp sounds better than the tone you got on that EP. We're recording our promo in May so that's when you can eat your words.
Looking forward to new Aghast, are you going to use the same settings? |

Yes, but we're going to use a different studio. Any fool should know that you can make anything sound like shit if you're only paying £300 for it! And as for tone, it's all relative to perception; you like your tone sterile and boring, I like mine loud and crisp. But to you, loud and crisp might sound a little to different, and we all know that in the world of brutal death metal... thats never a good thing.

You have no idea how I like my tone, for we have never discussed it. and if you're judging how I like my tone from the mp3s on our myspace, you should be fairly surprised by the promo. We were going to redo the guitars on those demo tracks but, since they are just that, demo tracks, we decided we didn't need to. It gets the point across, you can hear all the notes and that's all that matters. You tone on that EP is FAR from "loud and crisp," and if that's what you think of it then yes, we have very different definitions of "loud and crisp," haha, I can't tell what's going on half the time until a chugga chugga section, but if that's what you were going for then no problem. The new guy that is going to record us hasn't really done death metal before, so it's going to be very interesting working with someone who's used to different genres of music and the production that goes with them. It should be fun. When are you guys recording again, and is it going to be a full length? I heard you were supposed to be talking to a label exec. or something a few weeks ago, did anything come of it?
by the way, we're only going to have to pay 60 dollars for our recording, hahaha. So we'll see how good or bad it sounds, 300 pounds is around 500 dollars isn't it? Hahaha, shit, we'll see. Last edited by modern death; 03-10-2008 at 11:33 AM.. |

We're meeting with him on the 30th of this month to discuss the finalities and it will be a full length. While the sound on our E.P is far from perfect, you get what you pay for. I have a pretty good idea what you want to sound like from listening to the clips, so no back tracking! It encapsulates the energy of a live performance that we're going for, not necessarily every note punched in, it's boring takes away all the magic that was present when the genre first blossomed... and its the main reason why I can't listen to most brutal death metal bands.
Also, the guy who did our production was a grungy/sludge producer, so it figures! |
