DSO - Drought [EP]
Artist: Deathspell Omega
Type: EP Release: June 22, 2012 Huh? Randomly listed on RYM, I haven't heard anything about this. "Artwork will be revealed soon “Drought” has the sour taste of the inexorable; it is a musical journey through the last moments before disaster hits. This recording displays some of the most lethal song writing ever witnessed from the band while retaining their unmistakable sound" Last edited by modern death; 04-24-2012 at 09:55 PM.. |

Very curious to see what they do now that the trilogy that (perhaps) defined their entire modern period has been, ostensibly, fulfilled. Nice broken image link shirt design, by the way.

Well, Chaining wasn't part of the trilogy either. I consider that their best release.

Short songs again, that's interesting.
Samples and art please. |

Given those short songs, I have a gut feeling that these are going to have less/no atmospheric sections but instead will just be a condensed sandpaper blast to the face.

Paracletus has short songs that aren't lacking mood. "Devouring Famine" is one of the best songs they've ever written, I think.
I wouldn't mind seeing them throw a curveball stylistically and move toward black metal rather than the avant garde. I say progression / regression is a matter of content, not aesthetic. Bring on Si Monu / Kenose v2012, several years wiser. |

I listened to Paracletus and Diabolus Absconditus for the first time in quite a while over the weekend. I was getting inked at a big stupid convention so me and Lacroix just hid in the corner of his booth, anti-social as ever, while listening to DsO and trying to make my arm look like the music... I need some new DsO material to show him because when it's playing that dude zones the fuck out and does crazy work! Like anything they do I would be looking forward to hearing it if I wasn't already tired of waiting!

Great, really looking forward to it. Love everything DsO have released thusfar. Too bad it's got such a short running time, though.

So I'm just listening to DSO for the first time. Infernal Battles and working my way forward. Good plan? I think Marlon told me that was a good idea a while back.
Should I bother with the EP's too? |
