We already had this topic, wherein someone said something really apt. Like... err, how can a pleasure be guilty, unless you're not listening to it for pleasure? Or something much more articulate than that. OP help me out.
Anyway, I still love me some classy nu-metal sometimes. Mudvayne, Slipknot, American Head Charge, umm, yeah, that's the only nu-metal I like sometimes. I've got a Hammerfall and some Stratovarius albums but I might burn them. |

we've had this thread at least 300 times.
never understood the reasoning behind feeling "guilty" about enjoying certain songs or bands, especially if that reasoning is that other metuhl br0s would condone it. just listen to the music; if you enjoy it, listen again. if you don't, stop. |

I think the one i've got is Renegade. "Always Will Be" is kinda a sexy song. The only power metal album I have that I actually listen to (once every couple of years) is Falconer's debut. It has some pretty good non gay riffs. Maybe it's the voices that make the riffs sound gay. I don't know. I'd rather not find out.

This is all I can think of right now...
Grave Digger - Excalibur Lot of aggressive riffs and vocals, but a lot of gay and campy parts too. The fact that there's any aggression is the only reason I can listen to a power metal album, really (I like Running Wild too as it counts on paper, but I've never felt they fit in with "power metal" all that well). Static-X - Wisconsin Deathtrip, Cannibal Fuck you. Emperor - IX Equilibrium So gay. In Flames - Gayman Really oversold hooks, but they work...this time. I guess I would vouch for it more, but those abysmal vocals... |

That first Static X album kicks ass from what I can remember, it's been a while though.
Also agreed with the sentiment about liking something thats not popular or getting pleasure or what the fuck ever was said three of the same type of threads ago. |

See, it pains me that a lot of people I talk to actually grew up on nu-metal. Granted, when I was a teen it was out there, but I grew up on classic rock instead and then moved onto metal while shying away from nu-metal. It seems really awful that nu-metal was in a large part a key factor in how kids that aren't much younger than me gained their perspective in how to approach music.
That said, Wisconsin Deathtrip appr |

I guess i'm not sure what you mean by that statement. I believe music will stick to the sort of people that are suited to it, so nu-metal kids who don't take a further step probably aren't a loss to any other community. |

Dimmu Borgir was awesome until In Sorte... Never understood the hate. Often I heard from stupid "metalheads" how Dimmu got "commercial", but at the same time they would listen to retarded "medieval-metal" bands (I think Germany is pretty much the only country which suffers from this horrendous fad).

Stuff I would probably get flamed for?
Dimmu Faceless-the first song on the first record and pd tbdm-all Dying fetus-sat and did Cradle of filth-cruelty and the beat Necrophagist Cattle d Cephalic-anomalies But could care less what anyone thinks. So I guess it's not guilty pleasures. |

I just know a lot of people who started listening to Slipknot or what have you, then starting listening to Deathcore, and then decided that was "childish" and started listening to needley squeedley with mean voices technical CAD-drawing metal. Judging from their trajectory, you can tell all they learned by listening to Slipknot as their first "real band" was banal aggression and escalated that to other music accordingly. I think you can learn more about music as a whole by listening to Led Zeppelin at an early age (classical is probably ideal but that's for fucking nerds) than Korn or whatever.

news flash, people take different paths to arrive at the same place. who are you to decide whether or not their path was appropriate? who cares what people used to listen to? as long as they ONLY listen to cool stuff now. haha
