Suffoclones that didn't forget about the thrashy riffs
It seems like everyone who wanted to be Suffocation when they grew up forgot that one of the most important parts of the Suffocation formula is awesome thrash riffs (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...bZ90amLY#t=42s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYlQkqLgJFE etc)
Are there any bands that didn't forget? |

I'd hate to derail your thread, but seeing as it isn't likely to get very far anyway:
Iniquity aren't a SuffoClone, but if you haven't heard their last two albums, "Five Across the Eyes" and "Grime", I think you'd really like the guitar work. -- Fuck, I may catalog my favorite Iniquity riffs and make (another) worship thread. <3 Grime's guitar tone. Marshall, I think. Last edited by LesserAnimal; 04-15-2012 at 01:02 AM.. |

There are a lot of Indonesian bands that seems to be inspired by Suffocation:
I recall there is a band called Funeral inception from Indonesia as well. These bands can be sort of cool, but they are nothing spectacular. Last edited by Corpseifier; 04-16-2012 at 07:52 PM.. |

Thanks for reminding me about Iniquity. For some reason I have always put them on my metal back burner, but I think this may be just what I'm looking for right now...

Serenadium is awesome. I've listened to all 3 of them but Serenadium is just so dark and it's a fucking riff fest.

I'd like to hear more about SuffoClones. I don't know many. Big plus if they have thrashy riffs, too.

Abominat is one of the best Suffoclones I have heard. Especially their second EP was good. I'd say they even make better Suffocation sounding stuff than Suffocation :P .Here is a song from their myspace:

Suffocation clones basically are just the brutal/slam parts in Suffocation. That's it. It's really one of those things where bands like Devourment,etc.. really don't actually sound/resemble Suffocation. I've never heard a band influenced by Suffocation who offer the traditionalism and musical aspects of Suffocation. SUFFOCATION

Seconded on Abominat. Iniquity can't be beaten obviously... Anyone have a link for 'Serenadium'? Somehow I never got around to buying it and I can't find a working link on Google.
EDIT: 'Sidereal Seas'... SO.FUCKING.GOOD. I usually hate when songs start off with leads, but fuck is it well done in this song. And the ending section just sent a bunch of shivers down my spine. Need to start listening to this band more again... Last edited by Lichtbringer; 04-15-2012 at 11:29 AM.. |

serenadium is so fucking badass
i wouldn't call it a suffoclone at all though. sure there are chuggy/brutal riffs, but fundamentally they still sound 100% like a scandinavian death metal band to me. |

Here's one of the (two) last songs Iniquity wrote as a group, originally on the "Revel in Cremation" EP. I think it was just Mads and Jesper (drums) at this point. One of my favorite melodic breaks is two-thirdsish through.

Mads also wrote the Strangler songs, as far as I know. There are some really, really good riffs on this demo:

I second Inveracity. Extermination of Millions is a pretty good album IMO.
