Recommed good 7 string pickups?
Going to be picking up a ibanez prestige rg 1527m tomorow, and not sure if the stock ibanez pickups are any good. Any recommendations for something else I should put in there?

Thanks for the reply man. Out of their pickups which ones would you recommend? I have a engl powerball with a Mesa 4x12. I'm going for a very heavy high gain sound but I also do alot of clean tapping stuff. (think augury). I have emg 81 and 85 in my 6 string ibanez rg that I was using and it gave me pretty much the sound I was looking for. But I thought I'd try something new and better in my new and better axe heh.

The Miracle Man are supposed to sound like a more dynamic and responsive EMG 85. The Painkiller has a similar voicing to a Dimarzio Evolution. If you want all out balls try out a Warpig.
What I suggest you do is buy 2 or 3, keep the one you like best and sell the other 2... thats the only way to truly know what works with your amp/guitar combo. |

Okay thanks alot man I appreciate it. Tim at Bare knuckles recommend a Painkiller 7 for my bridge and a Cold Sweat 7 for my neck. Then Nicholas @ The axe palace recommended a Miracle Man set. Can't decide what to get heh.

haha yeah, both nick and tim recommended similar setups for me.
What I will probably end up doing is getting a Painkiller, Miracle Man, and Warpig for my setup... and keep 2 of them. |
